Ulster Hospital Radio has been running for about 6 years. It originally started in Newtownards and Dundonald. The Newtownards station was closed because of a lack of interest and the lack of members did not make it cost effective to keep it open. There are 7 shows a week one for every day.
The Radio Station is a totally voluntary organisation, No money is made from it at all. All fundraising goes towards improving equipment and the quality of service. Most of the fundraising is collections at the front door of the hospital but a sponsored broadcast is being organised where a show will keep broadcasting for over 24 hours with the same presenters the whole time. More news on this as it happens it isn't yet finalised.
